Perhentian dive centres

Check that the centre is an SSI training centre, the instructor-to-student ratio, what is included in the price, the condition of rental equipment and how recently the listing was verified. Ask whether open-water dives take place locally or on a trip.

Not for an introductory try dive, which is run under direct instructor supervision. For independent recreational diving you need an entry-level certification such as SSI Open Water Diver, and some sites require more experience, such as SSI Advanced Adventurer.

Diving here is seasonal. Most operators run from around March to October, and many close during the north-east monsoon from roughly November to February. Confirm dates directly with the centre.
