Freediving in Singapore & Malaysia
Centres teaching breath-hold diving courses and running freediving sessions.
Freediving is diving on a single breath. Courses start with relaxation, breathing and equalisation, then build safe technique in the pool and in open water, always with a buddy.
Singapore freediving schools train mostly in pools and take students to Malaysia, Indonesia or further afield for depth. Agencies include AIDA, Molchanovs, SSI and PADI.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to freedive?
You should be comfortable in water and able to swim, but freediving relies more on relaxation and technique than swimming speed. Courses teach the skills from the beginning.
Is freediving safe?
Freediving is managed with strict buddy procedures. Never freedive alone, and learn from a certified instructor who teaches rescue and blackout response.
Which freediving agency should I choose?
AIDA, Molchanovs, SSI and PADI all run structured freediving programmes. The instructor and the training environment usually matter more than the agency.
