My Scuba Diving Trip At Tenggol Malaysia

My Scuba Diving Trip At Tenggol Malaysia

It has been almost 2 months since my last scuba diving trip at Tenggol Malaysia, and it is so much harder for a short weekend getaway as the dive sites nearby is pretty much limited due to the monsoon. So, the best I could do now is to look through the photos and reminisce one of my favourite dive trip of the year.

About 3 months back, I finally had the chance to visit Pulau Tenggol, a small island at Terranganu, Malaysia over the Hari Raya long weekend. We gathered on a Friday evening at Deep Blue Scuba, ready to start our 10hour journey to Tenggol! We reached the pier at about 6am in the morning and after another hour on the speed boat, we finally arrived at Tenggol!

I immediately fell in love with this small, simple island. A quiet beach and crystal clear waters, it was a perfect getaway. We checked into our rooms, gathered for the dive briefing and headed out for our very first dive at the Turtle Point. We also spent a dive at Rajawali and our last dive of the day was at the House Wreck, sitting just right in front of the island.

The second day started off at Tokong Timur, a site off the main island of Tenggol, hoping that we’ll get to see our favourite animal, the whale sharks! The whale shark season here is between March till May and August till October and the crew told us that they had been having weekly sightings of these gentle giants! Seems like we really have a pretty good chance!

No luck at TokongTimur, but I’m surprised that we can find such pristine waters here. The waters had visibility of at least 25m and marine life was amazing.

We also planned a wall dive at Tanjong Api later in the day but was hijacked by the whale shark at Tanjong Rajawali! Our (or at least, most of us) first Whale Shark encounter! We had several sightings of the whale shark and also saw 2 mobula rays, all in one dive. We returned to the same site and we’re super lucky that they were still around!Lucky us!

The highlight of our trip – WHALE SHARK!

We’ll all agree that the experience of a dive trip will not be complete without great company, right? Surface intervals and nights were spent goofing along the beach, sharing photos/videos of our dives, playing games and simply having so much fun! It’s amazing how this group can come together so naturally!

One of the best companies I can ever ask for!

If you ask me, I’ll gladly travel for 10 hours for this little heaven all over again. See you soon Tenggol, I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Tenggol Lovers,
